Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of FamSpendy ("the app"), provided by Somi Technologies Ltd ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
The service
FamSpendy is a personal household finance app. You can record expenses, scan receipts, set budgets, manage recurring bills, and ask the in-app AI assistant ("Somi") questions about your data. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use FamSpendy.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Tell us at support@famspendy.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the data you put in. The app will do its best with what you give it.
- You can have one personal account. If you share a household, invite other family members through the in-app invite flow rather than sharing a login.
Subscriptions and billing
FamSpendy is a paid subscription. Pricing is shown in the app before you subscribe. Your subscription renews automatically each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Trial: if a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end unless you cancel during the trial.
- Payment: handled by Apple (App Store), Google (Play Store), or Stripe (web), depending on how you signed up. We don't see or store your card details.
- Cancellation: you can cancel anytime. App Store and Play Store cancellations are managed in those stores' settings; web cancellations are managed in-app under Settings.
- Refunds: handled by the relevant store or by us under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations (14-day cooling-off for new web subscriptions). For App Store / Play Store purchases, refund requests must go through the store.
- Price changes: we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email and in-app before any price change. You can cancel before the change takes effect.
What you can and can't do
You may use FamSpendy for personal household finance tracking. You may not:
- Use the app for anything illegal, including money laundering, tax evasion, or fraud.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our source code.
- Resell, sublicense, or use the app to provide a competing service.
- Upload content you don't have the right to upload, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Use automated tools to send a high volume of requests (the AI assistant included) in a way that disrupts the service.
- Attempt to access another user's data.
About the AI assistant (Somi)
Somi uses third-party AI models to answer your questions about your spending. The answers are AI-generated. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Don't treat them as financial, tax, or legal advice. Use Somi as a starting point; verify anything that matters before acting on it. We're not responsible for decisions you make based on what Somi tells you.
Your data and content
You own your data — your expenses, categories, receipts, notes, and anything else you put in. We license that content from you only to the extent necessary to operate the service for you (e.g. store it, render it, send the relevant parts to AI models when you ask Somi a question). You can export your data anytime and delete your account anytime under Settings → Account.
Our intellectual property
We own the app, the brand, and the underlying code. These terms don't transfer any of that to you. You get a limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app as intended.
Service availability
We aim for high availability but don't guarantee the app will always be reachable. We may need to take it offline for maintenance or to fix issues; we'll try to give notice when possible.
Termination
You can stop using FamSpendy and delete your account at any time.
We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if your payment fails and isn't resolved, or if we reasonably believe your activity puts the service or other users at risk. We'll give you reasonable notice unless doing so would cause harm.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to FamSpendy is capped at the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't be limited under UK law.
Disclaimer
FamSpendy is provided "as is". We make no implied warranties about fitness for a particular purpose, except those that can't be excluded under UK law. We are not a regulated financial services provider; we don't offer financial advice, manage money, or move money between accounts.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we'll let you know in-app and by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use FamSpendy after the effective date counts as acceptance. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be resolved by the courts of England and Wales, unless you have a non-waivable right to bring it elsewhere as a consumer.
